Electrical Installation Condition Reports Cheltenham

From June 1^st 2020, it became mandatory that all electrical installations in private rental properties were to be tested by a competent electrician before a new tenancy began on July 1^st 2020. Any existing tenancies have until April 1^st 2021. These electrical tests must be carried out every 5 years to ensure the safety of your tenants.

Test Your Appliances

Private landlords have a duty of care. You have the responsibility to ensure all electrical appliances within the property are PAT tested by a fully qualified electrician in order to have an Electrical Installation Condition Report provided. PAT tests are simply to ensure that all appliances are fully functional.

When the appliances have been PAT tested, you must provide your tenants with a copy of the Electrical Installation Condition Report. However, if your report highlights any issues, they must be resolved by a competent electrician within 28 days of the inspection.
